We need your feedback - Beta version of New CEAL website now available!

The Library Technology Committee is pleased to announce that a beta version of NEW CEAL website is now available to the CEAL community for feedback. Here is the URL to the beta site: http://www.eastasianlib.org/newsite/. It is built in WordPress, one of popular content management systems for contemporary websites. Below are some of the highlights of the beta site:
  • Clean layout – A drop-down navigation bar is created with top-rated links according to the CEAL website survey we conducted last year.
  • Responsive and consistent design – The beta site can work well on a variety of devices (desktop, tablet, phone, etc.) and window or screen sizes. All webpages have visual consistency in design.
  • More visual elements – The homepage includes a wide image slider to feature CEAL news. There are also photos of CEAL members and activities across the website.
  • One place for annual meeting programs – A centralized section for annual meetings is created for all plenary and committee program schedules and presentation slides.
Please note that the beta site only includes important and updated content for CEAL, and annual meeting programs and presentations from 2018 on. All the historical content (2017 and prior years) are still kept on the current website. The current site will be archived with a new URL when the beta site becomes the official CEAL website at the beginning of next year (2019).

Our website development team (Anlin Yang, Lucy Gan and myself) would like to express our gratitude to the Executive Board for their generous support of this website redesign project. We would love to hear your feedback about the beta site. Please submit your comments using “Contact Us” form on the bottom right of the beta site or email Tang Li (tangli@usc.edu) directly through the end of this year.

DH/DS resources for East Asian studies and beyond

Some of CEAL colleagues attended the International conference on the cyberinfrastructure for historical China studies at Harvard China Center, Shanghai in March and/or the Digital Humanities Asia 2018 Summit at Stanford in April.  Based on the resources of these two conferences and others, CTP has compiled a list of Digital scholarship resources for East Asian studies and beyond and posted it on the CTP website.

If you have any suggestions or comments to enrich this list, please feel free to email Charlene at cc83@uw.edu.

Last call for CEAL and AAS 2018 membership renewal - 2/8/2018 - deadline

Dear CEAL Members,

Just a friendly reminder that the HARD deadline to renew your CEAL membership so you can vote in the 2018 CEAL election is Thursday, February 8th. Different from previous years, this year we will not be able to entertain any renewals after the February 8th deadline, because of the amount of time needed to prepare the ballot. Please refer to http://www.eastasianlib.org/cmb/joinceal.htm to check your membership status and to renew your membership, if needed, before Feb. 8th.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Sincerely,

CEAL 2018 Annual Program Outline available!

Dear CEAL members:

Happy New Year!!

Once again, I am delighted to call for the participation of the 2018 CEAL Annual Conference Program with the Plenary Session Theme "New trends in East Asian Collection Development and Services", which has the outline ready to be viewed and downloaded through the link in CEAL Home Page: http://www.eastasianlib.org/.

My deepest gratitude to the chairs and members of the standing committees, sub-committees, and task forces, some of them have started to work on forming their programs as early as right after the last annual meeting and been still working on the related details.

The final program with the details will be ready and sent to everyone soon.

Look forward to seeing everyone in Washington DC.
